WEBSITE TERMS
Terms of Use
In these terms, BOOK LAW FIRM means The Law Office of Lorne C. Book, P.C., doing business as BOOK LAW FIRM. These terms govern use of the BOOK LAW FIRM website. A signed engagement agreement, Lawyer for Life® agreement, court rule, or other written agreement may impose different or additional terms and will control the relationship it addresses.
Please read these terms before using the site. If you do not agree to them, do not use the site or submit information through it.
Effective date: August 19, 20261. Notice and scope
These terms apply to use of booklawfirm.com to the extent they are properly presented and enforceable. The Privacy Policy also applies to information handled through the website.
These terms do not replace or amend a signed legal-services agreement, Lawyer for Life® agreement, or terms presented by another platform without legally sufficient notice and assent.
2. General information, not legal advice
Website articles, videos, downloads, assessments, examples, and service descriptions provide general educational information. They are not legal, tax, financial, investment, accounting, or other professional advice for a particular person or situation.
Law and individual facts change. Do not act, or decide not to act, based only on website content. An appropriate professional must review the complete facts and current law before giving advice about a particular matter.
3. The website does not create an attorney-client relationship
Visiting the site, using an assessment, submitting a form, sending an email, scheduling a meeting, receiving a response, or accessing general education does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship.
BOOK LAW FIRM accepts a legal matter only after appropriate review, including a conflicts review, and a written engagement agreement signed by the firm and the client. Until then, do not send information you expect the firm to keep confidential and do not assume the firm is protecting a deadline or legal right.
Texas professional rules may protect information provided in a good-faith effort to become a client even when no engagement follows. That protection does not mean BOOK LAW FIRM accepted the matter, agreed to protect a deadline, or formed an attorney-client relationship. Send only the information reasonably needed for intake and a conflicts review through the channel the firm requests.
Past matters, examples, testimonials, awards, or descriptions of services do not guarantee a similar result.
4. Permitted use
You may use the website for lawful personal or business informational purposes. You may not:
- attempt unauthorized access to the website, member accounts, forms, servers, or connected systems;
- interfere with security, availability, or another user's experience;
- use automated means to extract, reproduce, train on, republish, or commercially exploit protected website content without permission;
- submit false, unlawful, harmful, infringing, or malicious material; or
- misrepresent an affiliation with BOOK LAW FIRM or use firm content to provide legal services to others.
5. External platforms and links
The site may link to or embed MyCase for client records and billing, Calendly for scheduling, Typeform for assessments, TexanWillsAndTrusts.com as a separate planning platform, and other third-party media, communication, analytics, or payment services. Information entered on a third-party service is sent to that provider. Its terms, privacy practices, availability, and security apply to its service.
TexanWillsAndTrusts.com is a separate online planning platform, not BOOK LAW FIRM. Using that platform does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship with BOOK LAW FIRM.
The website may retain historical ecommerce accounts, orders, billing records, or authorized downloads. Public shop, cart, checkout, or retired product pages are not current offers by BOOK LAW FIRM. A current engagement agreement, invoice, Lawyer for Life® agreement, or other written payment arrangement controls the service and price it addresses.
6. Lawyer for Life® and restricted access
Member Library access is limited to authorized accounts and controlled by the member's applicable Lawyer for Life® agreement and the access status maintained by BOOK LAW FIRM. These website terms address use of the site but do not amend an existing Lawyer for Life® agreement without legally sufficient notice and assent. An account may remain in the system when access is inactive.
The Member Library uses a separate website login. MyCase credentials do not sign a user in to the Member Library, and Member Library credentials do not sign a user in to MyCase. Users are responsible for protecting login information, signing out on a shared device, and promptly reporting suspected unauthorized use.
Member education and self-guided checklists provide general information unless BOOK LAW FIRM separately agrees to provide matter-specific legal services. Completing a checklist on the website does not ask the firm to review it or protect a deadline. Use MyCase for documents and secure matter messages the firm has made available there. The engagement agreement and team instructions control the communication channels for each matter.
7. Intellectual property
Original website text, design, branding, graphics, videos, downloads, and other materials are owned by The Law Office of Lorne C. Book, P.C., doing business as BOOK LAW FIRM, or used with permission and are protected by applicable law. Limited personal use does not transfer ownership or authorize republication, resale, modification, or creation of competing materials.
BOOK LAW FIRM, Lawyer for Life®, associated logos, and other identifiers may be trademarks or service marks of their respective owners.
8. Availability, accuracy, and results
The firm works to keep website information useful and current. It does not promise that every page is complete, current, error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for a particular purpose. Content and access may be corrected, changed, suspended, or removed.
To the extent permitted by law, use of the public website is at the user's own risk. Nothing in these terms limits a responsibility that cannot lawfully be limited or changes duties created by a signed engagement agreement.
9. Texas law, severability, and changes
These website terms are governed by Texas law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable law requires otherwise. If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective to the extent permitted.
The terms may be updated as the website, services, or law changes. Revised terms apply from the effective date shown above to the extent permitted by law. Material changes affecting restricted member use should be presented through an appropriate notice or assent process.
